Story: Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant is one of the most distinctive and influential performers from the classic rock era of the 1970s. The legendary hard rock band was founded in August 1968, when Yardbirds guitarist Jimmy Page and manager Peter Grant conspired to recruit new musicians to fulfill booking engagements in Scandanavia. Page and fellow studio vet John Paul Jones teamed up with Plant and drummer John Bonham from the obscure Band of Joy, and soon the New Yardbirds were renamed Led Zeppelin. As the biggest rock act of the decade, the band had a collective mystique that endured long beyond Bonham’s tragic death in 1980 and their subsequent breakup. Following a disastrous set at 1985’s Live-Aid benefit, the three remaining musicians first played with Bonham’s son Jason at the 1988 Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary party.
