Introduction and Life Events

Story: Punk rock icon Sid Vicious was not a musician, yet his eleven-month (barely) stint as the Sex Pistols’ ostensible bass player brought him overnight infamy, and the consequential hazard of living up to his reputation. Even before he joined the band, he enjoyed some local renown for acts random violence and for being part of the Bromley Contingent, a gang of proto-punks who staked an early loyalty to the Pistols. Just as he was tapped to replace bassist Glen Matlock in February 1977, he met American groupie Nancy Spungen, with whom he soon sank into the depths of heroin addiction. Following the band’s breakup in January 1978, Vicious made some attempts at pursuing a solo career, but when Spungen was found stabbed to death in their New York City hotel room, he was instantly arrested and charged with her murder.

Stars: Vicious was born with his natal Sun and Venus in Taurus and natal Mars in Cancer, signifying a sensitive soul who adopted violent ways in order to overcome shyness. Astrology demonstrates how the transits of Venus and Mars during the last years of his life coincided with key events in his outrageous legacy.
