Story: Usher Raymond IV discovered his singing voice in a church choir, but it was his triumph on TV’s Star Search show in 1992, at the age of thirteen, that earned him an audition with noted producer L.A. Reid, which in turn landed him a spot on the soundtrack album for the movie Poetic Justice. His debut album, simply called Usher, was produced by future star Sean “Puffy” Combs, released in 1994 and made him an major star in the R&B world at the age of fifteen. His follow up album, My Way saw the teen star emerge as an adult entertainer, featuring songs co-written with his close friend, Jermaine Dupri. His 2004 CD, Confessions, was his biggest hit yet, making him the third recording artist in history to have three singles inside the Hot 100’s Top 10, following only the Beatles in 1964 and the Bee Gees in 1978 (the year of Usher’s birth). Most recently, Usher has become a father with the birth of his son, Usher Raymond V, who was born just two months before the death of his grandfather, Usher Raymond III.
