Introduction and Life Events

Story: Natalie Wood was one of those rare celebrities who maintained a high-profile performing career from childhood to adolescence to adulthood, before her tragic drowning death in 1981. She became a star at the age of eight, for her memorable role as Susan Walker in Miracle on 34th Street, about a young girl who has to be convinced of Santa Claus’ existence. However, a year later, on a film shoot for a forgettable picture called The Green Mile, she nearly drowned when a bridge she was crossing during a scene gave way underneath her, instilling what would be a lifelong fear of being in open water, a fact that would become ironic with her death thirty-three years later. She put her childhood behind her with another memorable role, playing opposite James Dean in the ultimate teen flick, Rebel Without A Cause, which was released just after he was killed in a car wreck. At the end of 1957, she married Robert “R.J.” Wagner, although the union came apart by 1961. That same year, however, she again put past roles behind her, with her starring roles in West Side Story and Splendor in the Grass, which were released a week apart, the latter of which earned her first Academy Award nomination.

Stars: Wood was born with both her her natal Moon and Uranus in Taurus, signifying the emotion unease associated with the phobia of deep water she had for most of her life. Astrology demonstrates how new chapters in her life coincided with times when transiting Uranus changed sign (called an “ingress”), an event that occurs every seven years.
