Introduction and Life Events

Story: Quincy Jones has been a presence in the music industry since the 1950s, where his trumpet and arranging work with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Dinah Washington and Ray Charles helped break him into the business. He has also made his own music over the years, beginning with his first solo recordings in 1956. He scored numerous soundtracks for films and television, and together with lyricist Bob Russell became the first African-American nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Song category for the 1968 movie Banning, the same year he was also nominated for Best Original Score for In Cold Blood. His career was sidetracked briefly in 1974, when he was hospitalized for a brain aneurysm. However, his star continued to rise, and in 1982, he produced Michael Jackson’s Thriller, the best-selling pop album of all time.

Stars: Jones was born with the natal Sun in Pisces and his Ascendant in Libra, signifying an artist who is known to bring out the best in others. Astrology demonstrates how outer planet transits to those points over the years have marked periods of adjustment and change in his life and career.
